bluestone dinner
I know I have posted about the splendour of the blue stone building at the winery before. Last Sunday night we had dinner in there, by the light of one lamp and wine straight from barrel or tank. Something special.

autumn afternoon
Nothing spells an autumn afternoon like a sensational cup of tea in the afternoon sun whilst admiring treasures that have fallen from trees.

brooches and a new side fence
The generous Amy from Badskirt has just hosted a giveaway and I am excited to say that my name was drawn second! I have requested the above button brooches made by her as my prize.
Aren't they adorable? She has a bunch of great stuff in her shop so go check it out.
In other good news, I now have a lovely new side fence which is tall and made of wood so neighbours can't look over or through it. I think I will have to go and make grass angels because no one will see me.
Hooray, happy weekend and I hope you all have good things to report.

fox - book - fox
A pre-schooler's birthday is fast approaching and I always enjoy choosing books for her. Do you remember Rosie's Walk by Pat Hutchins. Story is so simple but the folky illustrations and patterns are superb. The other is Fox by Margaret Wild and illustrated by Ron Brooks. I was first drawn to the messy type and layout, but reading the story sold me.

stuck on a shape
Inspired by these, I have been drawing up some images for notebook covers as part of an upcoming birthday present. Every time I put my pencil to drawing a body it turns into the deer who swallowed a saucer. Time to branch out lady.

when the dust jacket comes off
An early start to a Saturday meant I could sneak to the op-shop. I found some books for eb and his dad, (history of wine in medicine and how to build a pizza oven, riveting for some), but found myself these treausures. Hiding behind an ugly dust jacket was this magnificent book cover. My new favourite thing is this small bakelite sewing case, the graphic of the sewing machine is the best, so modern for something quite old.
It was full of feet that may or may not fit my old singer, will have to test them out.
So there are a lot of things I want to get done today, or should. Don't know where to start.
Papermaking, cleaning, market research, grocery shopping, washing, hemming my jeans. If anyone elese out there suffers from jeans much longer than their legs then I find this the best and easiest way to hem them.
Have a good weekend, anyone have anything exciting planned?
