...because I was admiring this rock at the beach.

Anyone else a 500 addict?

udderly fishy

Lady luck was on my side and I won Fliss' giveaway over at Udder. The prize was this very cute plush fish. I really like that he has 2 personalities and enjoys watching the rain from the windowsill. If you aren't familiar with her work, please go and have a sticky beak as she is a very talented lass. Also has great taste and pointed towards these freeform modular fabric tiles, very fun.

I was given the most beautiful collection of vintage buttons for christmas. I thought the carved bakelite button above deserved to become a piece of jewellery and I simply have sewn it to a brooch-back so I can wear it when I please.

I believe they were all from this beautiful collection.
Great vintage buttons on etsy here and here.

Aya Takano

With a severe case of “ I will buy you this as a gift because I want it”, I gave Tokyo Space Diary by Ayo Takano to a friend as part of her chrissy present. It is basically half comic book, half catalogue of artworks. I am smitten with Ayo Takano's art. The colours, the imagery and subject matter. I adore the alien yet soft aspect of her work. She is mostly associated with Japan's Superflat movement, which is a style that really floats my boat. See more examples of her work here.

difficult to give away upholstery samples?

The lack of interest in free upholstery samples has perplexed me...
Next week I will be taking them to the op-shop, so if you would like a package full then head here before midnight Sunday the 18th.

off the conveyor belt part 2

More from the christmas gift-making machine.

A passport and travel document holder, yes with a hidden press-stud.

Keeping up with tradition with a covered moleskin diary.

Grocery bag.

For tomorrow.

The card was made with my very first piece of handmade recycled paper. Exciting!

another pencil pocket

I made a pencil pocket for my new planner. The thought of not having to turn my bag upside down to find a writing implement was too tempting. I have been hoarding the Auntie Cookie fabric for a while and thought it was about time to use it.

Instead of elastic I used a press-stud to join the ends this time... press-studs are a great invention.

upholstery samples

Upholstery samples. I ♥ upholstery samples and am so lucky that a lovely lady thought of me when her mother was condensing her stash. On arrival home from Christmas I was greeted with four boxes of upholstery samples! Yes, I nearly fainted.

Being realistic, I am never going to be able to use them all. I have been offering an armful to everyone that walks through my front door, and before I send the excess to the op-shop I thought I would offer them to you.

I have excitedly sorted through and put together a collection for myself. There is still an abundance remaining, especially florals as I am not really a flower kind of girl. I will send a package out to anyone in Australia who will put them to good use, please spread the word if you know others who would too. (If you are o/s and upholstery samples make you giddy please email me and we can work something out to cover postage costs).

If you are interested all you have to do is leave a comment with some ideas about great online clothing stores or etsy clothing sellers in Australia. I have christmas money to spend on updating my wardrobe but unfortunately yet to find anything I like!

I hope you all have a nice week, if you are like me and going back to work tomorrow remember to drink lots of tea to aid the adjustment.

five everyday loves

1. eb (sappy)
space and fresh air
washing-up music ( really music to do anything by)
4. doing something creative, whether it be with my hands or my head
5. tea. nothing like that first sip of tea

Ashley from strawberry kisses tagged me to show five of my everyday loves. I tag ritva, gretchenmist, scout, krissy and lili scratchy to show five of theirs if they would like to.

A spontaneous trip to Gaden cave yesterday. Very pretty. I enjoy the stillness and sense of time passing slowly down there.
